NoBo Art District Internship Opportunities

Join the NoBo Art District team and support our local creative community. Gain professional experience in gallery management, exhibit curation, marketing and communications. Internship opportunities are now open for the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026.

The North Boulder Art District (NoBo) is looking for interns who are passionate about cultivating an inclusive and elevated creative community in Boulder. NoBo is a growing organization and cultural destination. Our internship program offers an opportunity to gain professional experience in the arts by directly contributing as a valued member of our team. This opportunity is for those who are interested in learning by doing, have passion for supporting artists, want to contribute to a creative ecosystem and coordinate unique events and exhibitions alongside hundreds of local artists.

The best candidates will be great communicators, team players who are willing to be flexible and show up for a variety of tasks or events as needed. Interns will take initiative on projects and also receive feedback and pivot when needed. You can work self directed and independently and also actively participate in group projects, meetings and dynamics.

Internship Applications will be accepted for two focus areas. (Please indicate which field you are interested in when submitting your application)

Marketing & Social Media The NoBo Art District actively markets and promotes exhibitions, events, member recruitment and more. Interns interested in gaining experience in marketing and social media are expected to:

  • Assist with the deployment of marketing strategies for promoting events, workshops, exhibitions, artist features and more.
  • Plan and execute social media content and manage the social media calendar.
  • Evaluate success of marketing strategies and make recommendations to NoBo staff for modifying and improving strategies.
  • Create collateral for outreach and marketing initiatives (using Canva or other design software) including graphics for social media, print materials, exhibition materials such as artist profiles and artwork labels.
  • Assist in organizing and executing our flagship monthly event, the First Friday gallery walk and market. This event occurs every month except January. Event hours are 6-9pm with additional time before and after the event for set up and strike. Interns are expected to be onsite supporting the event.
  • Document and capture content for programs and events through photography and/or video, creating reels and short videos.
  • Monitor, review and execute google ads, analytics and search console for current and planned marketing campaigns.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings. Days and times tbd.

Exhibitions & Events The NoBo Art District runs two gallery spaces: The NoBo Bus Stop Gallery and the NoBo Art Center. Each space features new artists/exhibitions each month and hosts multiple events. Interns interested in gaining gallery exhibition and event experience are expected to:
  • Work directly with the Gallery & Events Manager and exhibiting artist(s) on installation, presentation, support, and promotion of monthly exhibitions, maximizing available resources.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks for galleries as required, encompassing painting, wall patching, and light cleaning. Maintain adequate supplies in both galleries to enhance the artist and guest experience.
  • Host regular gallery hours including some weekend hours.
  • Assist in scheduling gallery and art center use for members and artists, and ensuring accuracy on the scheduling calendar and on our website.
  • Create and distribute exhibition statements, press releases and event schedules to the marketing intern/staff for promotion of exhibitions and events across social media platforms, local and regional arts networks, and various media channels to maximize outreach.
  • Research and maintain distribution lists for press releases to local and regional art organizations, and media outlets to effectively promote each monthly exhibition.
  • Assist in the coordination of event logistics, including liaising with vendors, musicians, artists, volunteers, and attendees.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling basic gallery event setups, including arranging foldable tables, chairs, food, and beverages. Facilitate supply runs for essential items and ensure effective placement of event signage and flags. (Having a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is advantageous.)
  • Provide general support and leadership for volunteers during events.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings. Days and times tbd.

Position Term

Internships are four months long at 10-20 hours per week. Applicants are considered on a rolling basis. We are currently accepting applications to begin as soon as possible.

Apply

Email info@noboartdistrict.org and include a letter of interest including your related skills and experience for the position that you are most interested in, CV or resume, your weekly availability and 2-3 professional references. Applications are reviewed as received and qualified applicants will be invited for a virtual interview with our team.

Supervision & Team Culture

Our internships are managed by our management team consisting of our Executive Director, Program Manager and Gallery & Events Manager. Each intern will be working directly with one key staff person, and working collaboratively within the group. We believe this offers the best possible experience for interns to learn and grow skills in working both independently and within a small team.

Our organization values execution and accountability for all roles, while allowing for additional coaching to account for the gap in professional experience of our intern team members. We intend to help you gain the skills that you are most passionate about and encourage open and direct communication.
