We are so proud to announce the formation of our online journal, the East Window Journal of Written and Visual Arts.
With this journal, we hope to highlight even more art and culture of underrepresented communities and provide a platform for artists from all backgrounds to share their hearts and minds through participation and contribution to this journal.
Much like the other programming that East Window offers the Denver/Boulder community, the East Window Journal of Written and Visual Arts provides yet another platform to collaborate with historically marginalized artists who exist in all communities of color, including Black, Indigenous, Asian, people who are LGBTQ+, Two-Spirit, gender non-binary, and people with disabilities and chronic illness.
Each issue will feature themes of racial injustice, inequity inside the queer community, the class divide, and the general hellscape that has become the harmful United States political rhetoric, amongst other important topics that tend to get swept under the rug. With this online journal, our vision is to uplift the voices that have been silenced and connect communities through art.
The East Window Journal of Written and Visual Arts will turn a mirror on the world, through the visual art and written works we incorporate into this publication. East Window will release our first issue this October, which will be available online for free, thanks to the generous donations, memberships, sponsorships, and grants we receive from our supporters. Each issue will be available in print format by special request only.
East Window is also currently accepting membership and sponsorship support for the journal. For as little as $50 anyone interested can provide financial support to fund the East Window Journal of Written and Visual Arts, which will go toward paying artist honorariums and overhead expenses. Anyone interested can show support for this endeavor here.
