The Boulder Public Library is a place where community, creativity and ideas come together. To support this important work, the library offers a three-month residency program based at the North Boulder makerspace, STUDIO 24, that connects makers of all disciplines directly with the community.
STUDIO 24 focuses on themed maker topics, as studios that run for 3 months:
- mid-September 2024 – December 2024*
- January 2025 – March 2025
- April 2025 – June 2025
- July 2025 – September 2025
- October 2025 – December 2025
*This studio has a predetermined theme of fiber arts. Makers in residence for this studio will be compensated to account for the longer studio duration.
We are looking for residents who:
- Are great teachers and are flexible/engaging to serve patrons of varying ages/skills
- Amplify the voices of historically and presently marginalized communities
- Have a project they would like to develop alongside the NoBo community
- Preference for bilingual residents
Library Provides:
- Access to NoBo makerspace anytime during themed open studio hours. Resident will work among community members attending.
- Storage of personal tools, large equipment and large works is not possible.
- An area to display resident’s project/work for the community to see how it evolves throughout the residency.
- Opportunity for a mini exhibition at Main library.
- $3000 honorarium, paid in two installments. Half paid upfront; half paid at end of residency.
- $1000 for materials for residents’ public workshops and community projects.
Resident Provides:
- Three workshops in the NoBo makerspace, one per month.
- One workshop at a branch library during the three-month residency.
- Design and creation of a project for a drop-in making activity. Resident helps run a minimum of 9 hours of drop-in open studio with makerspace staff where the project is also available.
- Design and installation of the small art exhibition at the Main Library in a designated location near BLDG 61.
