Living on the of Colorado front range surrounded by wide open spaces, unique shapes and bold colors, inspires me. The poet Wallace Stevens wrote “The imagination is one of the forces of nature.” And nature is a powerful source for my imagination.
I have always been drawn to abstract expression, and themes from the natural and spiritual worlds that well up from the subconscious in my paintings. My recent work explores themes of water, life, birth, the sacred feminine and symbolic transitions… beginnings and endings, twists and turns, even dead ends and resurrections…a metaphor for life’s journey.
Techniques I use include acrylic painting, mixed media and collage, print making and encaustic wax. My studio is in Boulder’s NoBo Art District. After 30 years as a marketing and graphic design business owner in NYC, Boulder is now my home where I have the freedom and space to make art to my heart’s content.
