Lee Heekin

The grid has been a constant in my work and is the structure in which my creativity comes to life. Although, my artwork began as a representation of confinement it has evolved to suggest a more open perspective as I use the grid as a parameter to push up against and suggest flux. I continue to explore the tension between accepting and defying boundaries in a variety of different mediums. The rigid form of my boxes and frames create that tension needed to contrast the playful forms and marks inside those constraints.
