NoBo presents the Emerald Mural fence CALL FOR ARTISTS
NoBo Arts District is accepting proposals from Artists who are interested in painting a 20-30 foot section of fence at Emerald Warehouses. Emerald Warehouses are home to many artist studios, The NoBo Art Center and other creative businesses. It is very much the heart of the NoBo Art District and First Friday events. The launch of the mural fence marks a new opportunity for artists to gain exposure and experience in painting murals. The mural fence is located in the center of the warehouses and runs east/west starting behind Wapos. The fence will be broken up into 15-30 foot sections for each artist. Each mural will stay up for one year, before being buffed out and offered once again to a new artist. The mission for this project is to bring more art to the community and offer opportunities for artists to break into mural work or expand their mural portfolio.
This is not a paid project however, artists will be given a free public space to create a mural design of their choosing. Interested artists should send an email and a design mockup along with any other information they’d like to share (please include contact information) to the NoBo Art District via email to: Artcallsnobo@gmail.com
Artists do NOT need to be members of the NoBo Art District, however we encourage all area artists to consider joining NoBo as a member to gain access to our other great resources. The opportunities are first come first serve. Applications will be reviewed by the mural fence committee and once selected, the design will go to the building management for final review/approval. Once approved, the artist will be contacted to coordinate mural installation.
Artist Expectations:
- The artist must make arrangements to install the mural within 30 days (weather permitting) or other agreed upon timeline. If the artist does not meet this timeline or make arrangements for an extension, the opportunity will be passed on to the next artist.
- The Artist agrees to publicize their mural work and tag the @noboartdistrict on social media and encourage visitation to the NoBo Art District.
NoBo Art DIstrict will provide:
- Primed and ready to paint mural fence section
- Possible access to leftover paint from other projects as requested
- Posts on social media channels supporting the artist
