First Friday Summer Samba – Live Brazilian Dance Music

Carl Dixon is the Musical Director of the Boulder Samba School, Assistant Teaching Professor in Percussion at CU-Boulder, and the founder of Virada Studio and Virada Drums. He plays drums and percussion with many of the top orchestras, jazz ensembles, and world music musicians in Colorado and nationally, and has performed with several samba school baterias and blocos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Alexander (Xande) has performed with samba groups and baterias all over the US and Philippines in addition to working with and teaching community groups, colleges, samba schools, and private students. He is a seasoned performer, vocalist, cavaquinho player, and percussionist, playing and training with Samba masters and musicians across the country.
