Closing Reception and Artist Talk/Walkthrough with the Collective at the Bus Stop Gallery

Join us for the closing reception of Entre Fantasmas, featuring an artist talk and walkthrough with the Los Fantasmas Artist collective as they reflect on the stories, histories, and visions woven into the exhibition. This gathering offers a final chance to connect with the artists and the conversations their work inspires.
Entre Fantasmas-Between Ghosts, a Los Fantasmas Artist Collective Exhibition
Exhibition Statement:
Los Fantasmas Artist Collective emerges from the spaces between histories, identities, and imagined futures. Named after fantasmas, “ghosts” or “the unseen,” the collective celebrates BIPOC and marginalized individuals often unrecognized for their contributions. As artists of Chicano, Latino, and Indigenous descent, we come together—each with distinct voices, mediums, and practices—to create work that resists erasure and reclaims visibility. This exhibition is not confined by a single narrative or aesthetic. Instead, it is a gathering: a constellation of perspectives bound by shared roots and a commitment to community.
Through our varied approaches, we honor the stories of those who came before us, confront the forces that seek to divide us, and build bridges for those yet to come. Art becomes both shield and offering—a way to connect, to challenge, to remember, and to dream. Together, we create to affirm our existence, to disrupt complacency, and to foster spaces where dialogue, belonging, and transformation can thrive.
Collective Bio:
Los Fantasmas Artist Collective was formed in the late 1990’s as a response to the local art scene that, in their view, treated BIPoc artists as “fantasmas” or “ghosts”. They observed the contributions of BIPoc folks in society as unseen; from the creatives working for our communities, to the people who work in kitchens and grow our food, to those who arrive at night, cleaning and providing services to make the lives of the privileged easier. LFAC is currently dedicated to creating work that accurately represents their communities and their experiences as well as broadening the scope of opportunities available to BIPoc artists throughout Colorado. They encourage the rejection of assimilation and the creation of work that is confrontational, and by sharing their stories they encourage others to do the same. For the last 20+ years Los Fantasmas continues to build a strong collective of artists that fosters growth and leadership for future generations.
