All Ears! A 3 hr workshop dedicated to learning how to draw the human ear

August 17, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$89

Learn all about how to draw the human ear in this focused, anatomy-informed workshop led by Rachel Suter. Combining her background in art and cadaveric dissection, Rachel will guide participants through her structured approach to capturing this often-overlooked feature with accuracy and confidence.

The workshop will cover:

  • Identifying key anatomical landmarks for correct ear placement

  • Simplifying the ear’s complex form into foundational shapes

  • Using the block-in technique to guide shading and value placement

The session includes a brief lesson and live demonstration, followed by guided drawing practice from a live model. Participants will explore both quick gestural sketches and longer 20-minute poses from a variety of angles, developing their observational skills and anatomical understanding. This class is perfect for artists of all levels looking to strengthen their figurative work through anatomical insight and hands-on practice.

About the Instructor

Rachel Suter is an artist and anatomy enthusiast with degrees in Neuroscience and Art Practices from the University of Colorado Boulder. She graduated summa cum laude and was honored as the Outstanding Graduate for her development and instruction of her “Anatomy for Artists” workshop that she taught in CU’s cadaver labs.

With nearly two years of hands-on human dissection experience, and a passion for figure drawing, Rachel offers a unique and deeply informed perspective on artistic anatomy. She has been integrating art and science for years, and applying her anatomical knowledge to figure drawings and artwork is one of her greatest passions.

Her teaching style is enthusiastic, encouraging, and grounded in the belief that understanding the anatomy of the body enhances both artistic accuracy and expressive freedom.
