Evolution of the Bustop
We turned the old Bustop site into a beautiful, fun, inclusive piece of the community!
The NoBo Art District continues to evolve; creating community among our artists, businesses and our North Boulder neighborhood. The old Bustop site gave the community a canvas to express themselves however they’d like before it’s removal.
The construction “ArtFence” at the old Bustop Site, along the west side of Broadway between Front Range Blvd and the south edge of Emerald City, was created by the NoBo Art District with the theme of #nobofacesproject .
It brought various local artists’ work into a colorful linear collage, made up of 6’ x 6’ or longer panels, to bring some excitement to the site, announce the new housing project (now complete), and to celebrate the NoBo community. The theme of “Faces” was translated by each artist. Colorful, eye popping large scale images that will translate well in a large format along the roadway and sidewalk were requested.
The construction fence at the old Bustop site, was the home for a new collection of murals comprising the #NoBoFacesProject created by the NoBo Art District. Located along the west side of Broadway between Front Range Blvd and the south edge of Emerald City. It highlighted the unique character and creativity of NoBo and announced the future housing at the former Bustop site. Many local artists contributed images for a colorful series of made up of 6’ x 15’ murals celebrating the NoBo community.
The panels are now adorned across many locations in NoBo, with more coming soon. And speaking of coming soon…
NoBo Art District signed a 3-month lease with the new Bus Stop Apartments. Sitting on the old local landmark space at 4987 Broadway, our brand-new space is the perfect location to showcase new visual, performing, and classic art. With great blank canvases come great responsibilities. Five retractable, clear, garage-style doors presents a perfect opportunity for physically-distanced art exhibits and live performances, as well as indoor/outdoor small group events with music and festivities.
Months of reduced events find our funds are lower than we would hope, but we know this space is a perfect catalyst for the summer (small) event season. We need your assistance to spruce up our new digs. We have identified some areas for fundraising to get this spot hopping: signage and lighting for increased public visibility and hanging systems for all shapes and sizes of art for it’s beautiful 12ft tall walls. Please donate what you can and let’s get our new gem prepped and polished for its day to shine. Please share with your friends and family and a huge THANK YOU for helping NoBo Art District thrive!
