CALL for Artists:  2019 NoBo Artist Calendar

Reserve your spot on the 2019 NoBo Artist Calendar NOW!  The NoBo Art District seeks member’s artwork to feature on a 2019 Artists Calendar, see cover of 2018 Calendar above. The calendar will serve to promote the NoBo Art District, up to 48 NoBo Member Artists, our events and up to 12 Sponsors.  

Participation is on a first come-first served basis with a cap at 48 Artist Participants and 12 Sponsors.  Each Artist and Sponsor will receive 3 calendars for participating. Sponsors will be featured in special sidebar promotions in our Daily Camera ads during 2019. Calendars will be available by early October 2018.  Approximately 300 additionalcalendars will be distributed at First Friday venues.

The NoBo Artists Calendar is conceived as an 8.5”x11”, 12 month calendar featuring four artists’ images and one sponsor each month.  Each artist’s image will be credited with the artist’s name.  An Artist Directory with name and contact info will appear in a separate section of the calendar. 

The deadline for entries is: July 15, 2018.

To Apply:  Apply via email.  Send your name, phone, email, website (if you have one) and the image you are submitting for the calendar, (see image specs below) to:NoBoArtMembership@gmail.com

Deadline: July 15, 2018.

Image Spec Here:  Please send an image larger than required and allow us to optimize/convert it to the required size via Photoshop.  Images will be consistently converted to the actual print size in the CMYK-color mode for offset printing.  We will notify you if your image is TOO SMALL or have inferior dot-resolution.

IMAGE PARAMETERS: DPI, SIZE, MODE  (IF YOU ARE ABLE):

Since many people do not have easy access to Photoshop to prepare their electronic files to the best parameters, I (Mike Hamers) will automatically check all files for overall quality, dot integrity, cleanliness of the whites (check the white-point) and overall saturation. Once I have your file open in Photoshop, I will also make sure that: 

(1) the image is in the correct color mode** (CMYK), and 

(2) I will rescale the image nearer to the final size “PRINT SIZE” while simultaneously converting all images that not set at 300dpi to its mathematical equivalent.

**If I am the one converting your file from RGB to CMYK ( = Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black = primary “process ink colors” for commercial offset printing.

NOTE: Every image has a DPI (= Dots-Per-Inch pixel resolution) AND a physical size dimensions (= a height and width). 

IDEALLY, if you are able, you should supply your image with these 3 parameters:
a) At 300dpi resolution,
b) 5 inches on the longest side (= 5” width for horizontal images OR a 5” height for verticals ones.
c) CMYK color mode (rather than RGB or Indexed colors).

IF YOU WANT ME TO “OPTIMIZE” YOUR IMAGE:

Please send an image larger than required and allow us to optimize/convert it to the required size via Photoshop.  ALL Images will be universally converted to the actual print size in the CMYK-color mode for offset printing.  Someone will notify you if your image is TOO SMALL or if it has inferior dot-resolution and will be red flagged by the pre-flight software.

1) FILE FORMAT: Images should be supplied in one of the following file formats: TIF, PSD, PNG, or JPG.

2) NAMING: Supply your file using this naming system: 

Last name_first name_key words from title.
